History of the Classic
The Conk Naquin Memorial Golf Classic is one of the premier grassroots golf tournaments in the New Orleans area. The Ray Hester Chapter of the Tulane Athletic Fund sponsored the first tournament in 2000 as a fundraiser for Tulane Athletics. In 2002, the tournament became the Conk Naquin Memorial Golf Classic in memory of the founder of the Tulane Booster Club and the Ray Hester Chapter.
The annual Conk Naquin Memorial Golf Classic has not only become an important part of fundraising for the Tulane University Athletic program, but a much heralded fun time for fans of Tulane, alumni, former Tulane athletes, Tulane coaches, athletic staff and others who just enjoy having a good time.
The vision of the Conk Naquin Memorial Golf Classic is to have fun-in-fundraising — and the Classic takes that to new heights each year. The Ray Hester Chapter has contributed over $200,000 to Tulane Athletics over the years and has established two $50,000 endowed scholarships. Through its fundraising endeavors, primarily the Golf Classic, the Ray Hester Chapter donated over $27,000 directly to Tulane Athletics in 2007.

Tulane Coaches on the Course
Joining Head Football Coach Bob Toledo and Head Men's Basketball Coach Dave Dickerson for a fun day at the Classic
will be Men's Basketball Coach Dick Bender and Men's Football Coaches Greg Davis, Dan Dodd and Mark Hutson.
Tulane Athletes to Head to Classic
The Classic and its Players are in for a special treat this year as about thirty of our great
Scholar-Athletes are coming out to the Classic to not only assist on the course and during
registration, but to manage several of the on-course contests. It will give the Classic
Golfers an opportunity to meet our future leaders in the community.
Jim Cook First
Player to Register
In less than an hour after opening registration and sending out
our first email, Jim Cook became our first Player. Jim, a Player from last year, said that the Classic
is a highlight of his golfing year.
Houston
Alumni Association First Hole Sponsor
Alan Bern, President of the
Tulane Alumni Association, Houston Club beat everyone to the punch. In late February,
the Classic received its first Hole Sponsor for 2008. Thanks to Alan and the
Houston Tulane Alumni Association.
Registration Now Open
It's Bigger and Better with a Pre-Classic Dinner Party on Thursday night where
golfers have a chance to win super prizes. Great food on course—Cold,
Cold beverages—Super Goody Bag—Awards Cocktail Reception—and
plenty more.
